About the Course:
The Heart and Stroke Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is the premier advanced resuscitation program designed for healthcare providers to improve outcomes with adult patients experiencing a cardiovascular emergency. You can practice and train in dynamic role-playing situations that mirror real life and will help you as a healthcare provider. You will be introduced to a wide range of life-threatening, all-hands-on-deck scenarios that involve systems of care, immediate post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. The goal is to strengthen your ability to communicate and work effectively as a critical member of a team.
Prerequisite:
Full: Current Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certificate and ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment Certificate (passing score = 70%)
Renewal: Current Heart and Stroke ACLS certification
Course Content:
The ACLS course focuses on building knowledge so you are confident and ready to perform high-quality CPR in various settings. The course covers:
High-quality BLS
Recognition of common cardiac ECG rhythms
Effective management of airways and use of adjuncts
Knowledge of cardiac pharmacology
Practical management of complex cases
High-performance team skills

Heart & Stroke BLS Provider & BLS Provider Renewal Course eligible for two (2) credits per hour under Section 2 of the MOC Program as “Traineeships.”
