About the Course:

This Canadian Red Cross recertification course is tailored for individuals mandated by their jobs or those keen on enhancing their emergency response abilities at home. It provides a refresher on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, following the guidelines set by provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and incorporating the most up-to-date protocols for first aid and CPR. You have the option to take the course in Calgary, Red Deer, or request our Mobile Training Unit to deliver the training at your chosen venue.


This course aligns with the CSA Standard Z1210-17 for Workplace First Aid Training.

Prerequisites:

Recertification: A current Intermediate (Standard) first aid with CPR level C/AED from an approved Canadian Agency.

Course Content:

  • The Red Cross

  • Preparing to respond

  • The EMS system

  • Check, Call, Care

  • Airway emergencies

  • Breathing and circulation emergencies

  • First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest

  • Wound care

  • Head, neck and spine injuries

  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries

  • Sudden Medical Emergencies

  • Environmental illnesses

  • Poisons (includes opioid poisoning)

Includes any other content required by specific legislation.

Course Completion Criteria:

  • 100% attendance and participation

  • 75% min. passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation

  •  Adherence to the Fundamental Principles.
